Philanthropic Focus

Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is Fighting Hunger. Food insecurity affects every race, age and community, including the communities where we are placed. That is why we want to be a part of the solution. Partnering with national and local organizations, we are able to make an impact on our communities. We are committed to contributing to the world’s work as our Purpose calls us to do. As a sisterhood, we work together to make a greater impact.

Our impact is enhanced through fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. They provide fighting hunger grants to various organizations that are doing their part in their local community to fight hunger. Campus Involvement

I am pleased to introduce myself and the Theta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta. My name is Brooklynn James, and I serve as the Vice President of Philanthropy. I joined Alpha Gamma Delta because of its strong commitment to service and giving back to the community. From the beginning, I was drawn to an organization that values making a difference and encourages its members to actively serve others.Alpha Gamma Delta is dedicated to fighting hunger through partnerships with Feeding America and Meals on Wheels. Food insecurity is defined as not knowing where your next meal may come from, and it remains a widespread issue, affecting an estimated one in eight Americans and Canadians. Understanding the impact of this issue motivates our chapter to take meaningful action within our local community.To support this cause, our chapter collects canned goods, hosts fundraising events, and encourages members to volunteer with local organizations. One way I have personally volunteered is through local food banks serving meals to our community. Our chapter hosts a signature philanthropic event each year. “Mac and Cheese with AGD” is a cook-off where student organizations compete while raising funds for our philanthropy. This event allow us to combine community involvement with our commitment to service.While fighting hunger is our primary philanthropic focus, our chapter also participates in other service opportunities. We volunteer throughout the Ashland community by assisting with yard work, making cards for local nursing homes, collecting donations for the community, and partnering with other organizations. Service is an essential part of our chapter and reflects the reason I chose Alpha Gamma Delta.Philanthropy and service are central to who we are, and we strive to live by our purpose: “To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service, thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied.” Through service, we build strong friendships, grow as leaders, and experience the joy of giving back.Loyally,Brooklynn James
